About us

Share Ground is a non-profit organization run by middle school and high school students from all over South Korea.
Our name, “Share Ground,” is a portmanteau of “Share” and “Fairground,” meaning that it is a festive place where people can share items,
ideas and talents. This first came from Share Ground’s “Auction Day,”
an event in which we raised money for charity by selling items and sharing thoughts and talents.

Share Ground began from one student thinking about the amount of items that go unused in our own homes. In a sense,
“recycling” these items, selling them or donating them would be a much better use rather than have them collecting dust.
With that goal in mind, the seeds of Share Ground were planted.
Although attempts at raising money through selling items on social networking sites were unsuccessful at first,
Share Ground entered the Youtheca sponsored conference in 2013 called The Global Youth Activities Expo.
After presenting the goals and purposes of the organization,

Share Ground was awarded with the Leading Global Activities of the Year Award.
From there, word began to spread and we were able to run our first successful Auction Day in the summer of 2014,
and have since held another Auction Day in 2015 and are currently planning for this year’s event.
Information on Auction Day can be found on the site.
Now, Share Ground is planning to go beyond the annual “Auction Day” event, and is currently planning larger projects for donation.
Share Ground also plans to have branches in various schools using each respective school’s’
club system to help spread our message and help those in need.
