Auction day

What is Auction Day?

ShareGround was founded in 2013, however Auction Day first started in the summer of 2014, and is an event that was organized to raise money for charity. The main premise is to donate items to auction off for charity. As students, unfortunately, most of us do not have the resources to donate significant amounts of money. We have had some generous donors who were unable to participate in Auction Day donate money to the charities. Because of this, we have students donating their talents and ideas for our causes.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

Donating Items
Donating items includes paintings, books, unused instruments, clothes, and pretty much anything. We want the objects donated to have some sort of significance or story behind it. That way, it provides a bit more meaning and significance to the auctioned items and can feel more personal in our exchanges. We have had many generous donors, giving items such as shoes, coffee makers, frying pans, cups, vitamins, and bags.
Donating Talents
Interspersed throughout the Auction Day event are several performances which serve to provide entertainment during the event. Students donate their talents to help our cause and make the event a little bit more memorable. In the past, we have had such talents as singing, instrumental music performances, dancing, dramatic readings and acting, and even cooking. We are grateful for the performers and talented students.
Donating Ideas
Organizing and running an event such as Auction Day requires a lot of planning and diligence. Before the actual event, there are many planning sessions in which our dedicated members donate their ideas and effort into making sure everything runs smoothly. From planning the date, schedule, menu, prices, order of auction items, managing members, and much more, there are many ways for anyone to contribute. Any help we have to make each successive Auction Day better than the last is greatly appreciated!
